Abdominal pain in pregnancy is a common complaint. It may be transient and harmless or it could be a sign that something is seriously wrong. In general terms, any pain accompanied by severe vomiting, vaginal spotting or bleeding, reduced or absent fetal movements (after 28 weeks), dizziness or shoulder tip pain could be serious. Urgent checkup by a doctor and preferably, a hospital referral is required in these cases.
